01 / FIELD NOTES
Documented prerequisites, side by side
The figures below are maintainer statements, not independent minimum-spec testing. A recommendation identifies a starting point; it does not guarantee stable frame times or completion.
| Project | Platform / graphics | Capacity and caveats |
|---|---|---|
| HayatoG runtime | Windows 10 1903+ / 11 x64; Linux x86-64 with glibc 2.39+. Vulkan 1.3. | 6 GB VRAM recommended; game files about 33 GB. |
| AxylPup v1.0.2 | Windows 10 / 11 x64; Vulkan 1.3; fast CPU with six or more cores. | 12 GB VRAM recommended. The hotfix notes explicitly say real 8 GB cards remain untested. |
| AYOUB1080p | Use the fork’s release and platform instructions. | Developer testing uses a Ryzen 9 9950X3D; this is not a stated minimum CPU. |
02 / FIELD NOTES
Read the labels before comparing numbers
A minimum requirement should describe a defined level of operation. A recommended capacity and a developer’s test machine answer different questions. Listing all three under one “minimum PC” heading would conceal the uncertainty.
When checking inFAMOUS Second Son PC requirements, separate whether the software can start from whether it can sustain the experience you want. Reaching a menu, surviving a save load and completing an extended session are different tests.
The AxylPup release uses reduced available memory on its test machine to investigate a crash. That experiment does not reproduce every characteristic of a different graphics card. Preserve the stated limitation when deciding whether the fix is relevant to you.
03 / FIELD NOTES
Build a useful hardware inventory
Write down the details below before looking for a comparable report. A matching GPU name alone leaves too many variables unresolved.
Platform and driver
Record your operating-system version, graphics-driver version and selected GPU. On a laptop with two graphics devices, confirm which one the project actually uses.
CPU and memory
Record the exact processor, system RAM and dedicated video memory separately. Do not substitute shared-memory capacity for a developer’s dedicated VRAM recommendation.
Storage and backups
Allow space for game files, extracted software, cache growth and a separate save backup. A game-data size is not a complete estimate for the entire working folder.
04 / FIELD NOTES
Hardware cannot fix a version mismatch
Use the required-file list for the runtime or the fork-specific version table for emulator builds. Check your region, title ID and update before spending time changing graphics settings.
An inFAMOUS Second Son PC requirements check should end with a matched software setup as well as a hardware list. If the build expects another executable or update, a stronger GPU will not make those files equivalent.
We do not provide a universal system-RAM minimum or a processor shopping recommendation. The reviewed sources do not establish one consistent threshold across all three projects. Look for repeatable tests before spending money to solve an uncertain software limitation.
Keep the release’s documented defaults, record one repeatable scene and monitor whether the result changes after a restart. Change a single setting and preserve the previous value so your comparison stays meaningful.
QUESTIONS / ANSWERS
Before you go further
Is 8 GB of VRAM guaranteed to work?
No. The cited hotfix reports an improvement but also states that real 8 GB cards were untested. Capacity alone does not identify the GPU architecture, driver or behavior in every scene.
Does Vulkan support guarantee compatibility?
No. Meeting an API prerequisite is only one condition. The project may still have hardware-specific faults, missing rendering behavior or game-version requirements.
Should I buy a new GPU before trying?
First establish that your files and software match, then look for evidence that your hardware is the limiting factor. This guide has no independent benchmarks on which to base a purchase recommendation.
